Stop running faster - here are the four root causes of your time famine and a coaching opportunity to help you find the best ways to tackle them.

It has been incredibly exciting to see the great interest in my previous post about "do you have two minutes?" questions in the leadership calendar! It is clear that ad hoc firefighting is a challenge many leaders share.


When we drown in operational fires, our first instinct is often to try to run faster, plan better, or work harder. But as a leader, you cannot solve a systemic error with higher personal discipline.


The core foundation of my philosophy at 𝗔𝗞𝗞 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗪𝗮𝘆® is simple: Awareness and Knowledge are Key – to achieving true success in combination with harmony.


By combining an observant and creative look at organisational hidden patterns with a methodical and action-oriented way of working, I have identified that almost all organisational friction can be traced back to four specific root causes:


• [P] Process: There is no clear, written instruction or standard operating procedure (SOP). The team asks because they do not know where to find the information.


• [M] Mandate: The employee has the competence but not the formal authority to make the decision. The bottleneck is structural, not personal.


• [U] Training (Upskilling): The employee genuinely lacks the knowledge or tools required to solve the task on their own.


• [K] Culture (K-Culture): An ingrained habit of 'upward delegation'. The team is used to the manager stepping in, taking over and rescuing the situation.


Breaking this cycle is not about time management. It is about moving from "Awareness" (identifying where the leak is) to "Knowledge" (applying the correct structural repair).
